Autumn Styled Shoot in Tai Tapu

Autumn Wedding Shoot by Revelry Event Design

This styled shoot was inspired by the beautiful natural surroundings the South Island of New Zealand has to offer. We got to work with an amazing team of extremely talented vendors and I’m so happy I got to realise my vision of an autumn inspired wedding shoot. It was captured by Tegan Johnson Photography and is nothing short of stunning.

The scenery of Tai Tapu, Canterbury, was the perfect location for this shoot with its amazing view and reflected the golden autumn light perfectly. The leaves were just starting to change to a colourful collage of the golds and the fading greens, and crisp cool air was rolling in. With all of this in mind, we thought, why not accent this time of year with our own flare.

Together with Aromaunga Flowers, a very talented florist, we created a wonderful table setting with different beautiful pink tones, mixed with a lot of green elements. An old mossy wooden table peppered with costly arranged copper and brass accents and comfortable blankets and cushions around it, formed an exciting contrast to the location where it became a fascinating eye-catcher.

The hand made, vintage beaded gowns from Louise Anderson Bridal Design along with the boho inspired elements and colourful floral pieces complemented the scenery with its beautiful colours and sunlight. This shoot is a perfect example of how to design an Autumn wedding and let nature be the statement piece at your wedding while using gorgeous details, such as your dress style and floral design to complement your overall wedding style and look.

I hope you like it as much as I do!

Natalie Marie Jewellery – Engagement & Wedding Rings for the Unique Bride

1

I, personally, am just not a big solitary diamond girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love it on other women but when me and my partner were looking around for engagement rings I just didn’t feel myself when I was trying them on. It might be because in The Netherlands, where I’m from, it’s not very common to have a rock on your finger and I’ve always liked to be a little bit different.

This means I’m always looking for more unique designs. And this is how I found Natalie Marie Jewellery. I just literally fell in love with her amazing designs! This Sydney-based jeweller has some serious talent and has got her own unique style. This is a “result of years of experimentation, design play and artistic exploration. An arts background, including a fine arts degree at Sydney College of the Arts, has given Natalie a unique approach to jewellery design, one that is not constrained by traditional approaches”.

To have a look at her beautiful collection visit http://www.nataliemariebespoke.com

You would also love to check out her Instagram as it’s very pretty!

Wedding Favors

Wedding favors are a great way to show your guests you appreciate their love and support on your special day. Favors are not to be confused with welcoming gifts, which are given to out-of-town guest upon their arrival at their accommodation. Welcome gifts don’t have to be super special – even a local map and visitor information will do.

Back to the wedding favors. One thing to remember – wedding favors should be either drinkable, edible or useful. Although I do think wedding favors should be personal, just keep in mind that outside of your immediate family, there’s a limited demand for keepsakes with your name and wedding date on them. It’s a much better idea to send your guests home with something to nibble on during their drive home for example. Or something they can use or look at for a long time.

To give you some more inspiration I listed some of my favorite wedding favor trends of 2014. Enjoy!

Hometown Pride
Something I personally like (maybe because our family and friends are from all over the world) is to give out a specialty food or wine related to the wedding location along with a note explaining the connection. Just think of oil, jam and honey in very cute little jars. If you have a lot of guests from overseas, I can guarantee you that a local New Zealand wine is always a big winner!

Photo Memories
Photos make a fun favor too. Photo booths are very popular now and a great way for your guests to have fun and take home some photos of your special day. You could also hire an extra photographer for an hour to take portraits of guests against a beautiful backdrop when they come in. Most people don’t get the chance to get dressed up and photographed by a professional very often, so these make wonderful keepsakes. Send them out after the wedding in pretty frames.

Grown with love
Give out flower or plant seeds packaged in tiny bags, personalized with your names and a thank-you note. Also, the seed filled papers are very cute and fun to decorate with. The only things your guests need are dirt, water and sunshine! Sure, this has become a go-to wedding favor, but the best part is – long after the big day, guests will watch the dainty blossoms (and the memories) spring to life.

Plants
The same as with the seeds – for your guests to take home a plant will keep them thinking of your wedding long after you said “I do”.

Cupcakes and Macaroons
Cupcakes and macaroons are the perfect treat. You could ask your professional baker but if you have a very talented friend or family member who makes the most delicious (and beautiful) cupcakes or macaroons, you could ask them to bake for your guests as well. Get cute cupcake or macaroon boxes and let guests take them home or enjoy them right away.

Takeaway Flower Centerpieces
A really fun and clever way to give away your centerpieces. Just decorate the reception tables with an array of flowers that guests can gaze at while they dine, then take home with them at evening’s end.

Wedding Cake
Give out personalized cake boxes for your guests to take home a piece of the wedding cake so it doesn’t get wasted.

Candy Buffet
Oh, I love this one! Let your guests fill up take-out boxes, personalized with your name and wedding date, with lollies of their choice.

16 Ways to Make your Groom Feel Special

Your wedding day is one of the most important and special days of your life which makes it very easy to get carried away when planning the big day. We girls love weddings so much and often end up creating the day of our dreams without letting the Groom pick too many of the details. Of course, you as the Bride are the ultimate star of your wedding. But don’t forget it’s your future husband’s special day too! But how to make your Groom feel special? Here are some ideas to remind him why he fell in love with you and that he will be the star on the big day too.

♡ Order a Groom’s cake, but make it really unique to him – like integrating his favorite colors of his favorite sports team.

♡ Make him feel a part of the planning by integrating some of his hobbies into the event, like registering at his favorite golf or sports store.

♡ Surprise him with a Boudoir photo session. Nothing too racy but just enough to make him blush.

♡ Send him a sweet text just moments before the ceremony.

♡ Create a 60 days to the wedding calendar detailing your love for him through daily sentiments of funny moments you have shared with him in the past.

♡ Do something unique with the garter – use his favorite scent or put a special treat in the garter for him to find.

♡ Send a gift to his hotel room the night before the wedding or to him the morning after his bachelor party.

♡ Write a letter expressing how much he means to you and have your Maid of Honor deliver it to him on the wedding morning.

♡ Sew a tiny message onto your Groom’s tie so that he will find it when he is getting dressed for the big day.

♡ Write a special toast to him to read during the reception – he’ll be overcome when you say all of those sweet and funny things in front of all your loved ones!

♡ Let him pick some of his favorite songs for the DJ or band to play at your wedding.

♡ Send his parents or his mother flowers and a card thanking them for raising such a wonderful son.

♡ Have the Groom enter the ceremony site to his favorite song.

♡ If you are planning to have a bridal shower – suggest having a couples shower so the Groom and his friends can be included. Or…

♡ Throw a man shower. Plan a weekend getaway for him and his groomsmen so he can escape from any pre-wedding stress.

♡ Give the Groom a ‘Groom Survival Kit’ and include items like a book what the Groom should know and certain items he might need on the wedding day and/or night.

Now go on and show your fiancé how special he is and how over-the-moon you are to be marrying the love of your life!

Why hire a wedding planner in New Zealand?

As couples begin thinking about their wedding, they are often confused as to how much to spend, where to obtain specialized services, and how to choose vendors. These worries often mount as quickly as the cost of the wedding. After the euphoria wears off and the reality settles in, it’s sometimes a shock to discover of how much preparation is involved. Couples are faced with decisions about everything from invitation wording to planning their honeymoon. Couples often find they want experienced professional help.

Not long ago, a wedding planner or coordinator was thought of as a luxury, only used by the wealthy. Now a wedding planner is essential to the well planned affair. It is no longer “trendy” to engage a coordinator. Being experienced in negotiating contracts with caterers, florists, photographers, and other suppliers. The wedding planner saves valuable time and money and often pay for themselves just in the discounts that they are able to get. The wedding planner can take advantage of discounts not available to private parties and avoid costly mistakes, while turning your dreams into reality.

The average wedding can take more than a hundred hours just to plan. With today’s hectic lifestyles, you may not have time to compare all the options, making sure you get the best deal, and make sure all the details are in place.

As a wedding planner I am not here to make decisions for you, but to guide and assist you in making informed decisions. My training, knowledge, and experience will turn your dreams and expectations into reality. I want  to host a beautiful and distinctive event which you can enjoy.

I will save you time and enable you to get the most for your money! As a wedding planner I can serve in many other capacities. I can act as the family counselor for apprehensive brides and the mothers, as a wedding planner I can become as close as your best friend.

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to book a no obligation consultation.

It’s time to write my first blog!

I’ve been very busy working on the website, Facebook page, business cards etc. But we are getting there =) It’s all pretty exciting! Even though we just started 2 weeks ago, we’ve already had our very first job over the weekend- creating a beautiful Father’s Day breakfast table! I can’t believe how much fun it was to come up with the whole styling idea and I have to say- I am pretty satisfied with the final result. Have you seen it yet? Go check it out here!

I’m obsessed with Pinterest and got too many ideas in my head at the moment. I just uploaded (or ‘pinned) some of my work too and had my first few ‘likes’ and ‘repins’. So that means those people like my work which I’m really proud of! If you are on Pinterest, please check out my mood boards and follow me.

For now, I’m out to enjoy the lovely weather with my beautiful daughter.

Have a wonderful day! Xoxo
